How to Learn French Online?

How to Learn French Online

Dear reader,

In this review, you will find information about one of the programs I recommend to learn French online, fast and easily.

This review is also another follow up from my previous post “Why Learn Another Language – The Joy to Connect” where I addressed the Joy to connect with other people through a common language, my personal experience with teaching and learning foreign languages, and my advice on how to learn a language online.

After a 5-year break from teaching French as a foreign language, life has taken me back to that role a few months ago. I currently have the honor to teach French again in what I consider the best language school I have ever experienced so far in my life: the CLT (Centrum voor Levende Talen) in Leuven, Belgium.

I have the pleasure to work with dedicated colleagues, and amazing and motivated students who sometimes ask me about extra resources they could use to learn even more French outside of the CLT. So I decided to write this review with them in mind.

You can also find information about the other languages offered by that same program here.

Please feel free to ask me your questions and share your personal experience and views in the comment area below. Thank you! 🙂

What Do I Mean by Fast and Easily?

Nope, this is not the magic bullet where you fall asleep and are fluent the next day with no effort. You will have to put in time and effort into this… although there are ways to improve your learning speed should you want to and I shall write later posts about this.

Here I say “fast and easily” and I mean “in comparison with other programs” that do not offer the same learning platform.

Is This Really Free?

As a French teacher myself, and a language-learning passionate, I find this program just mind-blowing! They offer so much for free!

They offer even more if you choose to upgrade. For example, if you upgrade to a Premium PLUS subscription for only $23/month, you even get access to a private tutor.

If you sign up now with my link, you can upgrade for $1 for one month of premium membership. This may be one of the best-spent dollars of your LIFE!

What Do You Get When You Sign In?

Because a picture is worth a 1000 words, let me share some screen shots with you.

Once you’re inside, you can always select a different level if you wish to.

Conclusion

I have personally tested this method and sincerely believe that this is a great move you could make to learn French online.

Whether you are just curious or really serious about it, why not give it a try

Please feel free to ask me your questions and share your personal experience and views in the comment area below. Thank you! 🙂

  2. A good explanation of what is involved in the language program including honest management of expectations i.e. easy doesn’t mean that no effort will be required to learn 🙂 What I like most about learning online through this program is that it can be accessed from anywhere. It really is worth investigating further. I’d like to know how the monthly fee for Premium after the initial $1 payment.

  3. Hello Nathalie;
great method that you suggested there, I have browsed enough websites and applications to learn Spanish for professional obligations but I have always found them all less interactive and too boring, I think I will quickly subscribe to improve my skills and why not get started on other languages?…

  4. Hello there thanks for this awesome article it would be of great help to the public as it has been of help to me.i recent time the number of people seeking to learn other languages has increased dramatically and this popular language french and been on the top charts for some time and  I think learning it online would save alot of time and one would be relaxed to learn, but I would like to ask,as I said before the demand to learn this language is really much, can this site satisfy them all.

  5. I have always wondered if learning a second or third language is something you can do online.  This review that you have done puts it out there that yes you can do it and for free.  My only question is do you need to upgrade for the premium program to really learn the language or with the free program work?  Or you get so far and then you can’t go anymore without upgrading.  It seems to be a great program and as you are instructor in different languages I am thinking this is great just wondering about the upgrade.  Would be fun to learn a new language and then take a trip around the world and be able to use it where it is used.  Thank you for the great info

Great! I’ve been searching for videos on YouTube for a while to find free French lessons. I’ve been trying to learn this language for a year now and somehow always quit because I didn’t find the right program. I will listen to your advice and try these free lessons. I’m excited to finally have professional lessons.

  7. I’ve actually spent some time with that program, and I’ll come right out and say it’s fantastic. I’ve spent time learning both French and Japanese with it, and though I didn’t stay on my French for very long, my wife certainly did and she’s now working at a full-time job that requires her to be fluent in it!

I’ve also used other programs like Duolingo, but they weren’t as good overall. So I can definitely stand by your recommendation 🙂

  8. Reading this review has made me tempted to go and learn French all over again. I did it in high school but haven’t used it since. I found it quite a difficult language to master back then but maybe with the help of an app such as this one, it will be more fun the second time around.

I can’t believe that this course is so reasonably priced so I am going to take a look at it right now.

  9. I learned basic French when I was in school here in the U.S.

How fast can one become fluent if you practice an hour a day, every day?

What exactly is Free?  And for how long is it free?

Do you have your own private Tutor  program where I can learn from you?

  10. Hi Nathalie,

Thanks for the Great inspiring post! This has to be motivating, not only for me but also for many others who wants to learn french.

To be honest, when I was in my schooling I studied french for two years and later due to some personal reason we moved from that place so I was not able to continue it. Since then I have the urge inside me to learn french and I do have a french dictionary which they gave me on my french medium school. It’s nearly 30 years old lol.

I am planning to try the free options first and it’s great news that we can try it for free. French Pod 101 is on my list!

I loved how easy the review makes it for readers and no additional research needed.

  11. Hi Nathalie! Coming from a french teacher, your advice is valuable. Thank you for writing this post and filtering all those other expensive programs out there that promise to deliver the stars and don’t even take us of the ground. I’ll give it a try! I’m excited about it and will start today!
