About Nathalie

Hello and welcome to Nathalieu.

A little bit about me…

My name is Nathalie.

I consider myself an explorer and a life surfer… Few things bring me more satisfaction than exploring and trying out ways to  ride the waves of life with enthusiasm and joy. The diversity and challenges in my life have allowed me to make MANY  mistakes and I have done my best to learn from them while being grateful for my blessings.

I was born in France in the early 70’s and left when I was 19 to study in Cambridge (UK) for a year as an exchange student. I enjoyed the challenge of living abroad SO much that I never went back to live in France after that. I’ve actually lived more years of my life abroad than in France now.

After spending 3 years in England, 2 years in Spain, 1 year in Germany, 5 years in the US and almost 5 months in South Africa, I finally came to realize that “The Earth is one country and mankind its citizens”.

In 2003, I felt a deep urge to come back to Europe to be closer to my family and to start a family of my own with my then American husband. We moved to Belgium in 2004 and our beautiful son Adam was born 3 years later.

After a stormy divorce and a couple of years of reflection and learning, I was blessed to meet my current husband, Koen, in the summer of 2015.

We have now been married for almost 7 years and I am constantly exploring ways to improve our relationship and learn from the challenges of our multicultural, multilingual and multi-generational marriage (Koen is Dutch and almost 20 years younger than I am).

Why I do what I do…

I dream of a world where everyone lives happily in harmony with themselves and their environment.

I also believe that we are all part of the same human family and that we are on this planet to help each other experience more and more loving kindness and joy.

Over the years, my insatiable curiosity and desire to make my dream come true have led me to explore various topics and avenues of self-development, self-improvement and self-expression.

Many people have been drawn to me and have asked for my help to face their own challenges. I have worked for more than 20 years as a teacher, a trainer and a coach, and sincerely enjoy sharing what I have explored and learned with anyone interested.

I believe we are all one. Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ (Lakota phrase that reflects a world view of interconnectedness).

Why this website…

Creating this website is a way for me to touch even more people, and I feel very excited about it!

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

To our joy and happiness,

Nathalie

  1. Hi Nathalia, it is my privilege and honor to visit you here on your site. I had visited before when you were just getting started you have come a long way.

I can say that I have not traveled extensively. But I know what it is like to pick up and move to a different country and set down roots. I agree that when we do that we have a much broader way of looking at the world and really we are all Gods children placed in different environments.

I lived 31 years in Costa Rica and my children are Ticos meaning Costa Rican. I returned to Canada in 2001 after a divorce of 25 years and a second husband that was 4 years younger than I that passageway at the very young edge of 49 for 3 1/2 years we were very happy but I now that he is waiting for me on the other side so I have that to look forward to.

I too have, EFT, adding to that acupuncture, acupressure, Kinesiology, so I am very familiar to the meridians and how they function. Three of my family members are of the Bahi Faith so I very familiar with your faith and admire those that place there lives in the Father’s hands.

I am of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we respect each other’s religious beliefs and live in harmony as a family unit.

I admire your joyous way of sharing that leaves me open to writing to my heart content because I am very long-winded. (O:

You work is very impressive as is your clear and easy way of writing you make one feel very much at ease.

My work has taken a turn on my blog post and has turned over a very different realm of work I have had to return to my first experiences in healing. I must admit that all that I have learned has not been in vain all have a purpose to it because I have been guided by the hand of a very loving Heavenly Father.

Your way of reaching out to people is impressive I wish you well in all that you do.

    Always a better way
    sending blessings your way
    Linda

    1. Wow!! Dear Linda! Your message fills my heart with joyful gratitude!

I feel so honored that you would take the time to share all this with me here on my ‘About Me’ page. SINCERELY HONORED!

Everything you say here is so full of deep meaning and it really touches my heart!

May your second husband’s soul rest in peace. I am so glad that you were very happy together before he passed away.

We do have a lot in common! I too learned kinesiology and love the healing arts.

I have a lot of admiration and respect for everyone, because I truly believe that there is something amazing about everyone, but I do have to say that my heart vibrates strongly when I connect with someone who has a strong faith in God. And I can tell you do! <3 <3 <3

It's interesting what you say about your blog and healing. To me, healing comes in many ways and forms and it can also come through writing and reading someone else's work... when we write with the vibration of love, light and healing, I truly believe that these energies come through to our readers!

Sending lot of love and blessings your way too, dear sister. You do feel like a sister to me. <3

      Nathalie

      1. Dearest Nathalie, In my Faith we are all Brothers and sisters meaning that we are all from one source and we truly are brothers and sister no matter were we live in this beautiful great world that is a learning tool to be able to return one day and never have to leave his presence again “like going home”. so yes Nathalie we are sisters and I am honored that you should feel that way also.

I feel that blogging is a way to come in contact with those that are in need but also for those to share their experiences and make contact and know that we are not alone on this great big healing wheal.

You said it very clearly in your writing this is why I felt I could write to you. Not only am I honored that you could feel my healing spirit but also that you have that same capacity the way you reach out to others.

This is very true about healing our first healing comes from within when we realize that we are not alone and that there is a greater force than ours that is there for us, we only have to reach out and then our healing starts to take place. The spiritual side is so very important. I look at it like this. When the physical and the spiritual work together this creates the soul. We cannot have one without the other.

So yes my dear friend it has been a very good experience to meet again and still feel the same connection.
        as always
there is always a better way
        sending blessings your way
        Linda

  2. Wide array of content are reviewed and covered,I love the idea of the blog where it based on own well being rather than a commercial biased content.I see many different perspective of view based on the blog and content you wrote .I was wondering that you tend to go backpack travelling often .I felt like travelling would help a person change her/his horizon of perspective regarding on how you would react to certain subject matter, keep up the positive spreading, Cheers!

    1. Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my blog and leaving your comment here. 🙂

Thank you too for your kind words.

Actually, I travelled a lot but I never really backpacked… I agree with you, in my experience, travelling does help a person change his/her horizon and perspective about the world. Travelling made me realise that some of the things I found “normal” and “obvious” were not perceived as such by other cultures… eye opening!

🙂 Do come back to see what is new on my blog.

      Cheers,

      Nathalie

  3. Hi Nathali, your website is already doing what you want it to do, touching people. This post has touched me. You have a very large heart. Your story is very unique and very inspiring. With your wealth of experience from various situations and locations, I’m sure you will make a great impact on hearts all over the world.

    1. Oooh!! Thank you so much, dear Juliet! That is so sweet of you to say that!

Your words are touching me and I can feel that you have a very large heart too.

It’s truly an honour to read you. I hope we do connect further in the near future.

      Much love,

      Nathalie

  4. Hello dear. I too have made many mistakes from the past even as a young man in his early twenties. I believe that our mistakes create experience and better life for us and lessons for others to walk on the right path. I enjoyed reading through your story. I wish you joy and happiness in your current marriage ☺️

    1. Oh! Thank you very much, dear Barry! That is very sweet of you to say that!

It’s great that you have made many mistakes even so young! This way you have many more years to apply what you have learned and make new ones… and learn from them… and be an inspiration for others… 🙂 It’s a continuous process!

I wish you much joy and happiness in everything you do,

      Nathalie

  5. Hi! Nathalie! That’s exciting to hear about your rich cultural background. I’m impressed with all the countries where you have lived. And how open you are to embrace new cultures and how you consider the entire world as one nation.

I would like to ask because I’m curious: Besides English and obviously French, do you also speak Spanish, German or Dutch? I love learning new languages and I consider them as an important part of culture. I’m glad I came across your site! Keep well!

    1. Hello Henry,

Thank you so much for your comment.

Yes, I do speak Spanish, German and Dutch. Although not as good as English…

It’s great to hear that you love learning new languages. I am actually planning to share some tips and recommendations for language learning in upcoming posts. Stay tuned!! 🙂

      All the very best,

      Nathalie

  6. My best wishes for you Nathalie. You are doing good by sharing your thoughts, emotion and feelings about your family. Many people stops and feels frustration in such kind of situation you are dealing with.

I have same opinion with you that we need a strong network and community together to be successful in life.

  7. Greetings Nathalie,

It’s so nice to hear such an inspiring story of travel, growth, and love. I too have been surfing life’s waves for a few years, although born in the United States I am currently living in China and have been traveling around Asia for a few years. I find it so encouraging and so TRUE that the more I explore the world the more I realize the common “oneness” of humanity. Truthfully, there is only one race – the human race. The things that connect us all far surpass the things that divide us and I appreciate your enthusiasm for working to help improve the lives of those we share the planet with. I wish you success and thank you for doing good work!

    Namaste 🙂

    1. Namaste, Connor.

Thank you so much for leaving this very kind comment here.

Yes! I totally agree: there is only one race – the human race.

I wish you all the best for the rest of your life.

      🙂

      Nathalie

  8. I think that your bio is very interesting and honest Nathalie. It is very important to leave first impression and I honestly think and believe that you are great person. Not so many people are honest today and that is very appreciated. I know that you will make great friendships here on the Internet.

    1. Hello Daniel,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this comment. I truly appreciate the depth and wisdom of you words.

It takes one to see one… you must also be a great person if you see that in me. 🙂

      Nathalie

  9. Hi Nathalieu, nice to read about you. You are well travelled and have lived in different countries hence you have lots of experience with humanity and the different cultures world-over…That the ‘Earth is one country and mankind its citizens’ is a statement that I agree with 100%

We all ought to live as one in harmony regardless of race, beliefs, continent of origin, financial status or any other thing that we think distinguishes one human from the other.

    Many thanks for your insights.

    Best regards.

    1. Hello Victor,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment here.

It warms my heart to hear that you agree that the Earth is one country and mankind its citizens, regardless of anything that may look different on the outside… unity in diversity…

There is another Hidden Word from Baha’u’llah that says ”  O CHILDREN OF MEN! Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust? That no one should exalt himself over the other. ”

And then it continues to say “Ponder at all times in your hearts how ye were created. Since We have created you all from one same substance it is incumbent on you to be even as one soul, to walk with the same feet, eat with the same mouth and dwell in the same land, that from your inmost being, by your deeds and actions, the signs of oneness and the essence of detachment may be made manifest. Such is My counsel to you, O concourse of light! Heed ye this counsel that ye may obtain the fruit of holiness from the tree of wondrous glory.”

      I find it quite beautiful!

      Warm regards,

      Nathalie

  10. Nathalie you are the true example of a cosmopolitan person.

It is evident that after passing through several ups and downs in your life you are at peace with your inner self and ready to shower love to all around you. Believe me, there is nothing better than sharing happiness.

    Great Job! Keep it up!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind message, GeeEss. It takes one to see one… which means you too are most likely at peace with your inner self if you can see this in me. 🙂

      Let’s keep on sharing happiness!

      Nathalie

  11. I am so glad to meet you, at least virtually. Reading your bio, you are one of my kind. I admire you for taking the leap and exploring your life in new locations. I can also call my self a ‘life surfer,’ living in 3 countries up to now. From your perspective, I might say that the world looks flat, which is true 🙂

We need more people like you to share joy and haziness. We all need this, we forgot it, and I personally miss it.

Thank you for being there, waiting for inspiration and happiness spreading from your side.

    1. Oh wow! Dany!! Thank you so much for leaving such a beautiful and inspiring comment!! I sincerely hope we stay in touch. Check out the rest of my blog and see if there is anything there that you like. 🙂

In which 3 countries have you lived? I’m curious!

      Nathalie

      1. You’re welcome! I will surely visit your website. I lived in the Netherlands (sounds familiar :)), US and Sweden.
        Talks to you soon!

  12. Hi Nathalie, nice bio. You married a Dutchman:) Always the best! And moved to Belgium, that sounds like a compromise to me. You from France and your husband from the Netherlands, living in between those 2 countries where they speak French and Dutch 😉 I wish you both a lot of happiness together with your son Adam.
